Burbangana | Liverpool Hospital | 2024

‘Burbangana’ is a Dharug word meaning ‘take hold of my hand and help me up’. This multiple piece artwork (video, sculptural installation and photographs) by artists Alison Page, Nik Lachajczak and Jamie Eastwood, features in the foyer of the Liverpool Hospital. It recognises not only the holistic nature of health and connection to people and place, but aims to encapsulate the feeling of being welcomed, supported and included.

The work captures the life and healing energy of Country, providing a moment of surcease and wellbeing for every visitor who moves through the space; entering into what can be a highly charged physically and emotionally challenging environment. This work was co-created with local Dharug people and features people living in and around Liverpool today.
