Dreaming of the Ancestors | 111-121 Castlereagh St Sydney | 2026

Located in the new commercial, residential and retail development by FJC Studio, 111-121 Castlereagh Street, Sydney,Dreaming of the Ancestors is a series of sculptural works that is a personal and creative exploration of Alison’s Ancestral connection to Country. It is a contemplative series of works in various mediums that explores the cultural landscape of Sydney Harbour, the preciousness of materiality and the songlines of Country.

The Series includes Ngura (home), a large-scale bronze map of Sydney CBD on the building facade, which locates 121 Castlereagh St in relation to the broader cultural landscape of Sydney and the Aboriginal occupation of this land; from deep time to now; Djal Dreaming, a precious glass object containing a secret material in the porthole in the façade;Gaarmawulawala (baskets), a collection of impossibly woven bronze forms suspended in the commercial lobby; Gurabangbulawala (stones), a series of hand-made and etched guiding lights in the entrance of the residential lobby; and Muruwulawala (tracks) – a dynamic bronze work, which explores songline connections.
