Six Daughters of the West Wind | Mt Keira Summit Park | 2007

Gently placed on the summit of Mt Keira, this artwork represents the local Aboriginal story of Oolaboolawoo and how Mt Keira and the five islands off our coast were created.

The work was produced in a collaborative process between Aboriginal artist Alison Page and non-Indigenous artist Tina Lee who produced the work with nine other local Aboriginal artists. The local artists were Lorraine Browne, Ali Day, Bonny Foley-Brennan, Debbie Hamstead-Callaghan, Val Law, Lila Lawrence, Jodie Stewart, Phyllis Stewart and Narelle Thomas.

With wood collected from the site, 6 traditional shelters were constructed and cast in bronze and the collaborating artists made tiles that were placed around the base of each structure. The tiles tell the story of each of the sisters.

In 2008 the work received a NSW Local Government Culture Award for the artwork.
